THE STORY SO FAR

Actor / Dancer / Theatremaker

Mason Phoumirath graduated from the University of Wollongong in 2015 with a Bachelor of Performance in Acting. Since graduating, Mason has worked extensively in theatre.

​

His credits include 'Poetry In Action National Tour 2022' (Poetry In Action), directed by Bryce Youngman, Lizzie Schebesta, Jo Turner, Erica Lovell and Suz Mawer, 'Australian Graffiti' (Sydney Theatre Company, 2017), directed by Paige Rattray, 'The Human Voice' (Periscope Productions, 2021), directed by Benjamin Sheen and 'Attila' (Opera Australia 2020 - 2022) directed by Davide Livermore, Andy Morton and Kate Gaul.

Whilst studying at Wollongong, Mason performed in the AWGIE Award winning play, 'The Gap' (2014), written by Patricia Cornelius, Melissa Reeves and Angela Betzien, directed by Catherine Mckinnon, Steven Berkoff’s 'The Trial' (2014) directed by Chris Ryan, 'Hold onto Hope' (2015), directed by Tim Maddock, and 'The King or Something' (2015), a devised show based on the writings of Gertrude Stein, directed by Caitlin Newton-Broad.

Mason is a co-founder of independent theatre company ‘Theatre Vs Everything’ with collaborators Joel Burrows, Savetsila Disapol and Simon Arthur. The company has performed ‘The Late Act with Mason Manhattan’ (2018) and ‘PressOne4Love’ (2015) at Crack Theatre Festival as well as ‘Pulp Theatre Double Feature’ (2014) and their debut show ‘Theatre vs Everything’ (2013) at the Phoenix Theatre.

Mason has also worked as a dancer, having performed in ‘Tut’ (2016) with Shaun Parker and Company for Art and About Sydney, as well as ‘Static Of The Radio’ (2016), an ensemble devised, six hour dance marathon performed at Sydney and Melbourne Fringe.
